Public Notification of Nondiscrimination in Career and Technology Education Programs

1.         Hitchcock Independent School District offers career and technology education programs in Business, Marketing Technology, Trade & Industry; Health Occupations, and Technology Education.  Admission to these programs is based on age, grade placement and student choice. 

2.         It is the policy of Hitchcock Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

3.         It is the policy of Hitchcock Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap, or age in its employment practices as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

4.         Hitchcock Independent School District will take steps to assure that lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in all educational and vocational programs.

5.         It is the policy of Hitchcock ISD to provide a free appropriate public education to each qualified student with a disability within the District’s jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the student’s disability.  An appropriate education shall include regular or special education and related services that are designed to meet the individual educational needs of the student as adequately as the needs of students who do not have disabilities are met and that are based on adherence to procedures that satisfy federal requirements for education setting, evaluation and placement, and procedural safeguards.
