Stewart Veteran's Day Celebration
November 08, 2007
Veterans Day honors US Veterans, men and women who served in the US Armed Forces. Veterans Day began as a celebration of the peace time after World War I ended, and was originally called Armistice Day; the Armistice (truce) ending WWI was signed on November 11, 1918. Armistice Day became an official federal holiday in 1938. The holiday was renamed Veteran’s Day in 1954, and became an official holiday honoring all US veterans. Veteran’s Day is observed on November 11th each year in the USA.
Students of Stewart Elementary celebrate this day in honor of all of the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces so that we may live and “grow up” in a peaceful country, The United States of America.
