DECA Attends District Career Development Conference

On January 24, thirteen DECA members took off to Houston to compete in various categories. They were Ana Diaz, Sable Howard, Lauren Copeland, Bethany Bremer, Ana Chavarria, and Catalina Tovar competing in Apparel and Accessories Marketing. Reginal Batist and John Guerra competed in Marketing Management, Anthony Cooper and Bradley Williams competed in Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Gerardo Alosnso competed in Retail Merchandising and Jillian Wise competed in Full Service Restaurant Management. Upon arrival they were treated to a sit down pasta dinner and then they were administered a 100 question multiple choice test in their competing category.
After the test, there was a dance. Bradley Williams proudly represented Hitchcock High School and won the dance contest. The next morning the students participated in a problem solving role play event. Their scores were added together and an exciting closing session was held where the winners were announced. Many of our students had high scores including Ana Diaz, Jillian Wise and Lauren Copeland. However, only Gerardo Alonso will represent Hitchcock at the State contest and John Guerra will be first alternate in management. The state contest is in Corpus Christi and will run from February 27 – March 2. Good luck Gerardo and John!
