Hitchcock Lady Bulldogs Make History with First-Ever State Championship
District and Galveston County Celebrate a Historic Victory
The Hitchcock Lady Bulldogs have made history.

On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs captured the UIL Class

3A Division I State Championship, defeating Shallowater 60–46 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The victory marks the first girls basketball state championship in Hitchcock ISD history and the first girls basketball state title ever won by a school in Galveston County.
The win capped an extraordinary season for a team that showed relentless effort, discipline, and belief in one another every step of the way.
From the opening tip, Hitchcock controlled the pace of the game with strong defense and physical play inside the paint. The Lady Bulldogs finished the night shooting 40.4% from the field and 75% from the free throw line, converting 18 of 24 attempts. Their aggressive rebounding and ability to create second-chance opportunities played a major role in building and maintaining the lead.
Hitchcock dominated the boards with 35 total rebounds, including 15 offensive rebounds, giving the team valuable extra possessions. The Lady Bulldogs also forced key turnovers and capitalized on fast break opportunities throughout the game.

Standout Performances
T. Jones led all scorers with 18 points, adding an impressive 12 rebounds to record a double-double and anchor the Bulldogs’ presence in the paint.
K. Carroll contributed 14 points, knocking down 8 of 10 free throws while adding four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
S. Johnson added 13 points and nine rebounds, providing steady scoring and strong defense.
V. Farris also finished with 13 points, including three three-pointers, helping stretch the defense and keep the Bulldogs’ offense balanced.
M. Blacklock contributed key minutes, defensive pressure, and rebounds that helped maintain momentum during critical stretches of the game.

The Lady Bulldogs scored in multiple ways throughout the night, with 43% of their points coming in the paint, 30% from the free throw line, and 20% from beyond the arc. Their ability to attack the basket and draw fouls proved decisive as the game progressed.
Hitchcock also turned defensive stops into offense, scoring key points off forced turnovers and second-chance opportunities.
