Hitchcock ISD Board approves 2.9% salary increase
At the Monday, June 19, Hitchcock ISD Regular Monthly School Board Meeting, trustees unanimously approved the district's compensation package for the 2023-24 school year.
The package is highlighted by a 2.9% salary increase for all district teachers and staff. The increase is based on employees' mid-point pay.
Additionally, trustees approved the district’s recommendation to increase starting teacher salary to $60,000. Teachers with 30 years of experience or more will cap out at $75,000. Core subject teachers and special education teachers will earn additional stipends of $4,000 and $2,000, respectively.
“I am so proud of the HISD Board of Trustees for the support of our staff members,” said Superintendent Travis Edwards. “Their commitment to taking the best care of our people in these trying financial times demonstrates their desire to recruit, reward, and retain the best Educators in Hitchcock ISD.”
The cost of the salary increase will total approximately $912,243.
HISD is monitoring the expected upcoming special session of the 88th Legislature in hopes state leaders will choose to invest in our public schools by providing the funding necessary for student success and for retention of our valued teachers and staff.
