Hitchcock ISD Communications

Dear all Hitchcock ISD parents/guardians and students,

Please read this letter regarding our Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy for the 2022-23 school year.

Pertaining to the 22-23 Student Handbook, the district is implementing a policy for PreK-5th grade and a policy for 6th-12th grade.

PreK-5 th grade
No student is allowed to have a cell phone or electronic device at school. If a device is brought, it will be confiscated and a parent/guardian will have to retrieve it from the front office. Electronic Device Policy

6th-12th grade
In order to assist students in communicating with family members, the District shall allow students to possess electronic devices on school property; however, student use of these devices during the school day on school property is prohibited. Any device or accessory brought by the student must be powered off and kept in the backpack during the school day.

If a student violates any of the policy stated above, any staff member present will confiscate the phone or other electronic device and the student will face disciplinary action. If a device is confiscated:

  • Students and/or parents may pay a $15 fine in order to receive the device at the end of the day;
  • If a student chooses not to pay the fine, the phone will be returned at the end of the next school day;
  • If a student refuses to surrender a cell phone or electronic device, a minimum of three days of ISS will be assigned and he/she will be charged a $15 fine.
