Message from the Superintendent - Death of a Student

Message from the Superintendent - Death of a Student
Hitchcock ISD Communications

Hello all,

Please see the following message on Superintendent Travis Edwards’ behalf:

Good morning Hitchcock High School and district families,

It is with an extremely heavy heart that this message has to be sent. On Saturday, December 3,
2022, we lost one of our high school students to illness. Hitchcock ISD, our staff, and our
students are deeply saddened over this loss and our thoughts and condolences go out to the
family members and friends of the student during this difficult time. Due to the Family Education
Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) the district cannot release the identity of the student at this
time.

Support services will be available for students and staff at the high school throughout the week.
Sudden death can be a very upsetting and triggering experience, and we ask you to please
monitor your child and support them, as this can be a difficult time even if they were not close to
our beloved student. If you or your child needs immediate support, please call or text 24/7 crisis
hotline for anyone aged 3-17 years of age. 1-800-969-4357 (HELP).

Travis W. Edwards
