Financial Transparency
Beginning with the September 2025 Board Meeting, Hitchcock ISD launched a renewed commitment to financial transparency and accountability. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our community can easily see how district funds are managed, spent, and aligned with our mission to serve students.
Each month, the district’s financial reports are presented publicly during the Regular Board Meeting for review and approval. You can always view these reports in the Board Book, which is posted online and accessible to the public.
In addition, Hitchcock ISD will continue to update and post all of the documents listed below.
These steps reflect our ongoing effort to provide clarity, build trust, and ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
Transparency — Open Books, Open Trust
- Every month during the Regular Board Meeting, we will present financials for review and approval.
- Each month, we will post our year-to-date budget, check register, and debt obligations in the board book.
Accountability — Every Dollar Has a Purpose
- We are shifting from planning a budget to budgeting according to a plan.
- District administrator evaluations, including the superintendent’s, will be tied to fiscal responsibility and statutory compliance.
Checks and Balances — Systems that Safeguard
- A Financial Oversight Committee has been established to strengthen internal auditing and oversight of district operations that includes the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and CFO.
- We are committed to ensuring the district does not spend more than it has — not just overall, but within every account, regardless of size.
