Have a 3- or 4-year-old you'd like to enroll in Kids First Head Start? You're in the right place.

All enrollment for Kids First Head Start must be done in person. Stop by the campus, located at 5701 FM 2004 or call 409-316-6541 for more information. Kids First Head Start is a grant funded program offering for eligible three and four year olds.

To attend KFHS in the 2026-27 school year, children must be three or four years old by September 1, 2026. 

Eligibility:

• Children must be three or four years old by September 1, 2026
• Must meet income eligibility guidelines and/or qualify for free or reduced National Nutrition Program
• Limited proficiency in English
• Homeless
• Disabilities
• Food Stamps

Application Requirements:

• Birth Certificate
• Immunization record
• Social Security Card
• Family income verification (4 recent check stubs for each member employed), 2025 Tax Return, 2025 W-2 Form, TANF and/or SSI, Child Support)
• Proof of residence in Hitchcock, and Santa Fe, Texas school districts. (Ex. lease agreement, utility bills, or receipt with address listed.)
• If living in someone else’s home, the homeowner must provide proof of residency from the list above.
• ID If student lives with someone else other than parents, please provide notarized or court documentation
• Health insurance card
• Physical (within last 12 months including Lead and Anemia results)
• Dental (within last 6 months)
• Food Stamp Award Letter
