Chief Christopher Filidei was sworn-in as the first Hitchcock ISD Police Chief in August of 2018. He helped to create, and leads the department. Under his supervision, greater than 2100 students and staff at Hitchcock ISD schools benefit from his mission of safety for all. As a law enforcement veteran with 17 years of experience, Filidei began his career with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office where he was a supervisor over the School Liaison Division. He has earned an Associates of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from College of the Mainland and is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement Leadership. He retains several prestigious certifications and licenses including Master Peace Officer, Firearms Instructor, National Association of School Resources Officers (NASRO) Practitioner, Mental Health Officer, Hostage Negotiator, Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Instructor, and Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) Instructor, to name a few.
He has also received the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award and Graduated from the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College (LEMIT LCC) which is one of the nation’s premiere law enforcement management programs.
Chief Filidei lends his safety expertise to local child care facilities and parochial schools and has helped school districts start their own police department.
A proponent of community involvement, Chief Filidei supports and participates in several law enforcement based children’s charities and is an active member of the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals of The Mainland organization.
He was born and raised in Galveston County, and along with his wife Jessica and daughters Ellie and Presley, continue to call the county home.
