HPS ~ Principal’s Monthly Message - October

Dear Hitchcock Primary School Families,

It is hard to believe that it is already October. The students, teachers, and staff are excited to be off to such a great start of the school year. As we move forward, we want to continue to build upon our accomplishments and remind everyone that Hitchcock Primary is here to meet the needs of all students and families.

Please take a few minutes to look over the events planned for this month.  If you have any questions or needs, please contact the school.   


The dates below are just a few great things happening in October:

October 5:   WELCOME BACK – 1st Graders

October 12: HISD District HOLIDAY – School Closed – Columbus Day

October 13: NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS – HISD Staff Development Day

October 14: WELCOME BACK – 2nd Graders

                     Report Cards Go Home Tuesday Folders


October 26-30 Red Ribbon Week Celebration


Monday 10/26             “Put a Cap on Drugs” Wear your Caps & Hats Decorate Them

Tuesday 10/27            “Be a Hero, Say NO to Drugs” Wear Super Hero Tee-Shirt – NO Costumes

Wednesday 10/28         “Put a Sock on Drugs” Wear Your Crazy Socks Neon or Bright Colored

Thursday 10/29           “Red Out Drugs” Wear Red to School

Friday 10/30                “Follow Your Dreams” Wear Pajamas to School – NO Slippers


Just a few reminders:

  • Please update phone information as it changes.
  • If your student is absent, please send a note upon his/her return to school.
  • If a student is sick, they must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • If you have a concern, please notify the teacher first.  If the concern does not get resolved then notify the principal or assistant principal.
