HPS ~ Classroom reassignment for some students in grades K-2nd

DATE:    October 23, 2020

RE: Classroom reassignment for some students in grades K-2nd

Dear Hitchcock Primary School parents and guardians,

We hope that all of our Hitchcock ISD families are safe and doing well.  As you are likely aware, as of October 14, we have now allowed all students to return to school for in-person instruction.  However, some of our parents have decided to keep their students on the virtual learning option.

One of our priorities in Hitchcock ISD is to continuously strive to provide the best learning environment for all of our students.  Since the district reopening, each teacher has been teaching some virtual and some in-person students.  In an effort to maximize high-quality, instructional time for all of our students, we have decided to designate one teacher from each grade level in Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades to become the dedicated virtual student teacher for that grade level.  For each grade level, there will now be one to two teachers who will be teaching only the students who have remained virtual.  To accomplish this shift, we will need to reassign the virtual students from each grade level to the virtual teacher’s class roster.  The now-virtual teacher’s students, who are attending school in-person, will then be equitably dispersed among the other (in-person) teachers’ classrooms on each grade level. In short, some, but not all students on each grade level will be receiving a reassignment to a different teacher.  All teacher daily schedules will remain the same with regard to instruction, lunch, and conference periods.  Students who are currently virtual will be required to remain virtual, at least, until the beginning of the second semester on January 6, 2021.

Virtual-only teachers will be:

Kindergarten- Eudy and Lehnert

1st- Dean

2nd- Sharp

Please contact us here at the school if you have any questions or concerns.  We look forward to working with you in helping your child achieve new successes this year.  We greatly appreciate your continued cooperation.

Sincerely,

Constance White,

Principal
